Caleb Talley, serving Startup Junkie Foundation as Executive Director, helps drive the organization’s mission of entrepreneurial ecosystem building with a diverse set of skills and experience and strategic vision. An alumnus of the University of Arkansas, where he studied journalism and political science, Caleb’s began his professional career at the Times-Herald in Forrest City, Ark, where his proactive reporting and editorial commentary, as well as editorial photography, earned him national recognition with several Associated Press Managing Editors Awards.
Caleb transitioned from daily reporting to publishing, taking a role at Vowell Inc. where he led as editor of AY Magazine and spearheaded the re-launch of Arkansas Money & Politics—elevating both publications to prominent positions in Arkansas’s media landscape. Having covered the rise of the entrepreneurial community in Northwest Arkansas, Caleb’s interest in the ecosystem led him to transition from the media world altogether. He joined Startup Junkie in 2019 as a marketing and events director, where he was responsible for planning and carrying out the foundation’s portfolio of events and workshops geared to serve the local entrepreneurial community. He was promoted to Executive Director in November of 2021.Â

LET'S TALK ABOUT
- Overlooked areas of excellence and building venture ecosystems in an unexpected place
- Leading lean teams with lofty goals
- Creating and/or maintaining company culture
- Community-building through programs and events
--
Caleb worked to build on the successes of his predecessors, and Startup Junkie Foundation has continued to surge, both in impact and reach—nearly tripling one-on-one entrepreneur consulting services to over 2,000 consults in 2023 and orchestrating upwards of 250 community-centric events annually. More tangibly, his proactive approach to diversifying funding sources has seen Startup Junkie secure in excess of $3 million in grants, ensuring sustained support for the entrepreneurs and small business owners.Â
Startup Junkie programming has also seen tremendous growth in recent years, including the Kiva NWA Hub which surpassed $1 million in microloans, thus advancing the dreams of over 130 small business owners. Furthermore, his strategic extension of the Fuel Accelerator program from a single, annual AI/ML cohort to three diverse cohorts spanning AI/ML, healthcare, and cybersecurity, maps the trajectory of a team that break barriers and redefines the entrepreneurial support landscape.
Service to the community through Startup Junkie Foundation is supplemented by service to others through additional channels such as volunteer work and strategic support. Caleb has sat on several nonprofit boards, having served as chair on a number of occasions, and offered time and support to diverse community and civic organizations throughout Arkansas.
