JJ Leaf-Clark is a South African born fantasy author and pop-culture writer based in Los Angeles.
The first volume of his debut work, The Halls of Isa, is set to release in early 2021.
JJ was born in South Africa and raised in both Switzerland and America. As a young gay man, he has noted the “plain white” and hetero- tones of most popular fantasy series (e.g., Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter) and hopes his books will encourage marginalized groups to see themselves more in fantasy.
In contrast, The Halls of Isa contains a myriad of characters of different races, ages, and sexual preferences.

Jeffrey Leaf-Clark is a South African born fantasy author and pop-culture writer based in Los Angeles. He is a recent graduate of UCLA, where he studied English with concentrations in writing, mythology, and social justice literature.
Moving to the U.S. at an early age, he grew up reading the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, which instilled in him a passion for epic fantasy, history, and mythology. It also inspired him to explore the various hierarchies that populate fantasy literature as he began to build his literary work.
Even as a child, when he wasn't studying books on ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, Jeffrey wrote about distant lands and century's old adventures.
Holding both Swiss and American citizenship, travel became an essential part of his learning as an author, giving him firsthand access to history's remnants while expanding his cultural inspirations.
As a gay man with roots in the diverse culture of South Africa, Jeffrey has made it his life's work to explore the interplay between race, sexuality, and identity through his extensive study and writing. The Halls of Isa is his first published series.
