
John Wendling
CEO at Parkland Community Health Plan
John Wendling is a healthcare executive who has more than 30 years of experience within the managed care and provider discipline. His roles have given him direct accountability for establishing the vision and strategic direction for organizations, leading cultural transformation and organizational redesign. He has worked with seven governors’ offices across four markets, including collaboration with policy makers, legislators, philanthropists, and business leaders, to transform the healthcare delivery system.

John previously served as the Chief Executive Officer at Magellan Healthcare of Nebraska, Chief Executive Officer at HealthFirst of Ohio, Inc. and Chief Operating Officer for AmeriGroup of Ohio, Inc. He has also served with Bon Secours Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Healthcare Partners), Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the United States Air Force (USAF) – Williams AFB, Phoenix.
Throughout his career, John has led several transformational efforts in the healthcare space, and he remains passionate about the processes and the people involved in those projects. "Today, our organization is in the midst of an exciting new phase of growth, as we continue to evolve and expand our reach in the communities we serve," he says. "I'm excited to be part of a team that always keeps our members top of mind and works hard to ensure increased quality of care, stronger provider relationships, reduced costs, and a first-class experience for the people we serve."
John holds a Master of Business Administration from Northern Kentucky University/University of Atlanta and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Northern Kentucky University. He has served on faculties and presented numerous papers, both nationally and abroad, including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), British Medical Journal (BMJ), National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), and American Hospital Quality Association (AHQA).
Outside of the office, John is a certified weather spotter for the National Weather Service, where he serves the community by providing important information to help forecasters make critical warning decisions.
