Joseph Noor is an innovator at the intersection of real estate and technology. As a co-founder and CTO of Ownwell, he is revolutionizing the way property owners manage their assets. Under Joseph’s leadership, Ownwell is developing cutting-edge technology solutions to reduce the costs and complexities of owning real estate.Â
Joseph always approached life as an entrepreneur: flipping golf balls, building sneaker bots, creating private MMORPGs, saving money on property taxes. Joseph was raised with the mentality of relentlessly chasing the hardest problems, pushing past what was initially thought possible, and leveling up in the process. In the unrelenting demand for academic excellence, he was enrolled in elementary two years early and was still pushed to skip grades. Enamored with the iPhone, he chose to study Computer Science to build software that can scale to the whole world. It wasn’t until the PhD where he met his first real academic challenge – developing AI to self-optimize computer systems.

“Joseph Noor & Colton Pace
Driven by a mission to democratize real estate tools once exclusive to experts, Colton Pace and Joseph Noor cofounded Ownwell in 2020 with Frank DiZenzo (who is over 30). Ownwell is a proptech company that helps consumers reduce the costs of owning real estate. Their software identifies properties that are overpaying property taxes, and their local teams of experts pursue tax corrections on behalf of property owners across the country. They have raised $25 million from investors like First Round Capital and Long Journey Ventures and Founder Collective. They currently have over 150,000 customers and are projecting $10 million in revenue this year.”Â
“Explaining the inner workings of deep neural network models have received considerable attention in recent years. Researchers have attempted to provide human parseable explanations justifying why a model performed a specific classification. Although many of these toolkits are available for use, it is unclear which style of explanation is preferred by end-users, thereby demanding investigation. We performed a cross-analysis Amazon Mechanical Turk study comparing the popular state-of-the-art explanation methods to empirically determine which are better in explaining model decisions.”Â
“The development and validation studies of new multisensory biomarkers and sensor-triggered interventions requires collecting raw sensor data with associated labels in the natural field environment. Unlike platforms for traditional mHealth apps, a software platform for such studies needs to not only support high-rate data ingestion, but also share raw high-rate sensor data with researchers, while supporting high-rate sense-analyze-act functionality in real-time. We present mCerebrum, a realization of such a platform, which supports high-rate data collections from multiple sensors with realtime assessment of data quality.”Â
