I fell in love with automation because I realize how crucial a role it plays in running a business. While most companies throw money into hiring people to scale rather than taking the time to create repeatable and automated processes to improve the customer experience and provide human touch where necessary. Properly implemented automation mitigates risk and improves quality. As a previous professional whitewater kayaker and guide I have translated my experience navigating Class V whitewater and mitigating life threatening risks and hazards into the business world. I am always evaluating the potential consequences of an action in the business, in the market, and in the automation plan.
I understand that markets shift and processes have to adapt. So I work to build in that flexibility for the customer and myself so that we do not become committed to a bad experience. My goal is to keep the boat moving downstream. Maybe someone got bruised, maybe you lost some revenue because of the shifts in markets, but the business had the systems that were flexible enough to be adjusted quickly so you can capitalize on the shift. All because we mitigated the objective hazards and you can still proceed forward. You just have to get back in the boat and keep moving downstream.

Mobile Pocket Office (MPO), consults with new and established businesses to augment their human and technological resources to leverage growth and streamline productivity. With the tagline of “Be Human Where it Counts, Otherwise Automate!” Mobile Pocket Office is disrupting the way businesses think about marketing automation. Mobile Pocket Office is run by business people who know how to make technology work, versus the other way around.
Mobile Pocket Office is led by a father-son duo pulling from two distinct knowledge sources. The father is Josh Ovett, with over thirty years of experience doing business process and sales consulting for major corporations such as JX Nippon, Heil, and others. And the son, Sam Ovett, professional guide turned automation mega nerd. Brings his ability to digest technical material, interpret difficult situations, and analyze objective risk to guide clients through a journey of automating their process.
The father-son duo guide all of their clients through a ““bringing your vision of your customer journey to life blueprint” or a “customer journey audit” during which they either figure out the big picture or a small segment of what their customer is doing now and what can be improved. It’s like building a house with an architectural blueprint. When it’s done right, everybody can see what the outcome should look like, exactly how to get there, the supplies that are needed, and when it’s done. A vision without an execution plan is just a hallucination. Without the blueprint, it’s just a dream. Mobile Pocket Office creates these business process maps for marketing and sales process and then implements them. Making sure to build in automation that reminds you to be human at the right place and the right time for each individual prospect so they are encouraged to take the next action.
Mobile Pocket Office’s goal is to automate you out of the process and make it so the only thing you need to have to be able to check-in on your business is your cell phone, hence the name Mobile Pocket Office.

Marketing and digital agencies today have a problem. They sell solutions that often are focused on scalable, automated processes but they lose the human touch when it comes to their own opportunities.
The reality is that agencies are not like eCommerce companies or B2C brands that might have hundreds or even thousands of opportunities knocking on their door. read more >>
Timeline
Feb 2017 - Present
Managing Partner – Mobile Pocket Office
Josh and Sam Ovett want to make dreams come true — and they’re good at it.
The father-son duo have a knack for helping people. They founded Mobile Pocket Office because they knew from experience how hard it can be to run a successful business. It started when they had trouble prioritizing things like family trips, exploring the outdoors, and treating their dogs to long walks — because how do entrepreneurs get that kind of time while keeping a business afloat? That’s where Ontraport came in.
Apr 2015 - May 2016
Subaru Leave No Trace Traveling Trainer – Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics
We coordinated and delivered outdoor ethics education to local communities— averaging 16 events per month, through a variety of workshops, presentations, trainings, festivals, social media strategies and public broadcastings (news, print, TV, and radio).
Jan 2013 - May 2016
Professional Whitewater Kayaking Athlete – Confluence Watersports
Developed, wrote and produced Whitewater Geology, a 7 part video web series showcasing their products in extreme environments— 7 different rivers, while simultaneously explaining the geology of each riverbed.
