Scott Marshall is the President/Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE), a nonprofit organization that administers the Semester at Sea study abroad program.
With an extensive career in education, specifically in international business, sustainability and social entrepreneurship, Scott has been fortunate enough to work, teach in and visit more than 80 countries.
Scott is an innovation driven executive leader with a deep commitment to organizational excellence, global engagement, financial stewardship and positive social impact.

Dr. Marshall served as the Vice President for Academics prior to his promotion and sailed as a faculty member on the Spring 2017 Voyage, teaching Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, International Business Management, and Social and Sustainable Enterprises.
Prior to his tenure at ISE, Scott served as the Vice Provost for Academic and Fiscal Planning and a Professor of Management at Portland State University. He joined Portland State University in December 1999 as an Assistant Professor of Management.
Over the past 15 years, he has taught a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and executive courses, with particular expertise in international business, sustainability and social entrepreneurship.
Scott has been fortunate to lead a number of study abroad trips, including three week trips to Asia and two week trips to the Middle East, and teach short courses overseas, including courses in Cambodia, Nepal, Serbia and Thailand.
Scott has also served in a variety of leadership roles. These roles included Academic Director of the Master of International Management program, Director of the Center for Global Leadership in Sustainability, Associate Dean for Graduate Business Programs, and Interim Dean of the School of Business.
