Sebastian started in the marketing department in the gaming industry with a focus on the intersection of marketing and technology (pre-growth-hacking days).
He co-founded 2 startups, both of which failed but were remarkable learning experiences.
Sebastian started a SEO side project while working on the last startup to test ideas and fell in love with the clarity it provided in terms of what users wanted. He turned to the digital nomad lifestyle and traveled the world for a year while running affiliate sites.
Sebastian co-founded dofollow.io, a premium link building agency, in late 2017 as a side project. He grew that “side project” from 0 to 7 figures in 4 years, growing the team from just the 2 founders to 12 core members plus various VAs and other service providers.

LET'S TALK ABOUT
- Nocode & workflow automation
- The overlap of psychology and entrepreneurship
- Building a 7 figure agency / productized service
- Remote company culture
--
After hitting several financial and life goals, Sebastian went through a bit of an identity crisis. Because of this, he went to therapy and became interested in personal development. He learned about how mindset, conditioning, and limiting beliefs impact not only your own life path but also how you structure companies and the decisions you make (or avoid) in your company.
Through this work, he has shifted from "proving himself" through the success of his work to a more mindful balance between work, self-discovery, and just enjoying life.
Sebastian aims to improve his company culture and provide a great environment for his employees without losing momentum. The dofollow.io team does this by utilizing smart processes, leveraging technology and automation, and getting better at hiring the best person for a job. They also take a different to learning through coaches and consultants.

“Businesses have to be prepared to be understaffed while contending with a labor shortage. With the potential for breakthrough infections and the double-whammy of flu season, the so-called twindemic is making even remote workers susceptible. Fully remote SEO agency DoFollow.io–which has staff located across nine countries, including the U.S.–has begun cross-training workers to account for the eventuality.”
“Hiring the right person is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your business.
The right person will increase your productivity, allowing you to take your business to greater heights, but recruiting the wrong one can cost money and add more work to your already full plate. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that bad hires cost companies 30% of the individual’s expected first-year earnings.”
“Also, be sure to foster a positive team environment by supporting your staff. When you demonstrate you value your employees, their loyalty is inevitable. What’s more, committed employees often have a stronger work ethic and are more dedicated to keeping the company’s best interest at heart.
Sebastian Schaeffer, chief technology officer and co-founder of digital marketing agency Dofollow.io, adds this tip: ‘Having a constructive, critical voice on your team is another prerequisite for long-term success.'”
“Something I have been gradually getting into over the last year and which I use to end almost all of the short 20-30 minute breaks I take is the Wim Hof breathing method which involves lying on your back and performing a series of deep (~30) inhalations and exhalations followed by a breath-hold of up to two minutes. The point is to eliminate as much CO2 from your body as possible to enable long breath-holds that produce a feeling of tranquility and mild euphoria. It is a quasi meditative state that really helps me clear my mind and refocus. It’s something you should do your research on before trying yourself, but I find it very helpful.”
