Today, Andy Seth is a #1 bestselling author, music producer, and founder of four multi-million dollar businesses but after achieving material success, he felt empty inside. You see, he grew up in a Los Angeles motel from the age of 0 to 14, so he had a fundamental belief that success would equal happiness.
It wasn’t until his last successful exit that he knew something had to change. So, he went on a journey to Riskhikesh, India (the birthplace of yoga and his family’s home) to improve his spiritual and mental wellness. When he came back, he decided to start a company that made a social impact while being a solid business.
He had already sent over a thousand low-income kids to college on scholarships, but he wasn't doing anything for those who weren't in college. He created an apprenticeship program where he trains hard-working, low-income youth in content marketing skills while being employed full-time as live chat agents.
His clients receive simple and low flat-fees, his apprentices build skills and a career, and his leadership team delivers results backed by a mission. His company, Flow Marketing, has been recognized as top 10% of all B-Corps worldwide and Andy has received numerous awards such as “40 Under 40”, “Top 25 Most Influential People”, and “Leader of the Year”. He’s started 9 companies (8 of which are professional services), scaled four into multi-million dollar companies, and has generated millions for clients such as Microsoft and Levi Strauss.
His mindfulness blog generates thousands of visitors per month, his book is a #1 bestseller, and his album has been listened to in 36 countries.

What makes people give? It's a question that I've obsessed over for more than a decade. And it's what led me to develop the world's largest digital fundraising research lab. Through the course of performing over 2,500 fundraising experiments, I've learned a few simple yet profound truths: 1. Giving is an irrational decision. It doesn't make sense.
When you donate money to a charity, you give money and someone else receives the benefit. It's unlike any other transaction that people make. And so in order to compel people to give, you need to connect with them on a much more deeper, personal level. This insight has implications for marketers of all kinds-- both nonprofit and for-profit alike. 2. People give to people. They don't give to web sites, to emails, to campaigns-- or even organizations. They give to people. People also buy from people. Understanding that completely unlocks your perspective and frees any marketer to reconnect to the humanity of the value exchange. Instead of focusing on what I want you to do for me, my focus shifts to what I can do for you. What I can help you accomplish. This changes everything. 3. There is no such thing as a fundraising (or marketing) expert. Testing trumps marketing intuition. It trumps conventional wisdom and best practices. When we learn to stop pretending to be the experts and humble ourselves by being willing to test, we can finally learn from the true experts-- the donors (or customers).
